PROGRAM 13 Excellence NJSHA's 2010 Honors & Awards Presentation

NEW for 2010 . . . . NJSHA is pleased to announce that the 2010 Honors and Awards presentation immediately preceding the opening Keynote session.

This new venue for the award presentations will provide a broader forum for NJSHA members to acknowledge the significant achievements of these distinguished individuals and organizations. Please join us to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments and success.

HONORS OF THE ASSOCIATION
This is the highest honor this professional organization can bestow on an individual. The award recognizes significant contributions to NJSHA and the professions of speech/language pathology and audiology. The nominee must be a NJSHA member for at least five years and have taken significant leadership roles in the Association on a broad and continuous basis.

PROGRAM OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes an innovative idea or strategy which has been in operation for two or more years and has demonstrated its effectiveness in one or more of the following areas: (a) providing a unique service to individuals with speech, language, and/or hearing disorders, (b) providing intervention for an under served population, (c) advancing the practice of speech-language pathology and/or audiology, (d) promoting the profession of speech-language pathology and/or audiology, and/or (e) increasing public awareness of speech, language, and/or hearing disorders.

DISTINGUISHED CLINICAL SERVICE AWARD
This award recognizes a speech-language pathologist or audiologist who is a member in good standing of NJSHA with five or more years of professional experience whose primary responsibility is in direct service to individuals with speech, language, and/or hearing disorders. This individual demonstrates distinguished service in some or all of the following areas: (a) provides exemplary service to patients and families, (b) is recognized as an expert by his or her peers, (c) shares expertise through teaching, mentoring, supervising, publishing, and/or professional presentations, (d) develops innovative programs, (e) actively pursues continuing education, and is actively involved in the advancement of the profession.

DISTINGUISHED PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD
This award recognizes a member in good standing of NJSHA with five or more years of professional experience whose primary responsibilities are in academics, research, or as an administrator of speech-language and/or audiology services. This individual demonstrates distinguished service in some or all of the following areas: (a) develops or supports new and innovative techniques in the field of speech-language pathology/or audiology, (b) recognized as a leader by experts in their field, (c) shares expertise through teaching, mentoring, supervising, publishing, and/or professional presentations, (d) has made contributions that have advanced the profession on local, state, and/or a national levels, and/or (e) actively pursues continuing education.

DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award recognizes an individual who has made effective use of clinical services and made significant improvement during the past year in their communication skills as a result of unusual dedication, motivation, effort, and perseverance.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
This award honors a non-member individual or organization who demonstrates support for the goals and mission of NJSHA and NJSHA members. Nominees should have made a major contribution to the professions in one or more of the following areas: (a) consumer advocacy, (b) governmental affairs, (c) public awareness, (d) research or (e) service to NJSHA and the lives of those we serve.

Nomination Process
The awards nomination process is easy and the rewards are great. Just follow the simple rules below, review the award categories and past winners that follow, then complete the nomination form. Return it to NJSHA by November 22nd and recognize those who exemplify excellence in our community.

Rules
1. You must be a NJSHA member in good standing (dues paid for the current year) to make a nomination.
2. Please complete one nomination form for each nomination you are submitting with all the required supporting material.
3. The nominee must not have previously received the award for which she/he is being nominated. The nominee may, however, have received a different award. 4. Nominees must meet all criteria for the award you have selected.
5. Please provide names of people and programs as well as their degrees and affiliations for the awards citations.
6. Please mail or deliver the packet to the association headquarters by the deadline date of November 22, 2009.
