Over the last two decades, he has conducted research on spoken and written language and literacy abilities. Abstract
Students’ academic, vocational, and social success hinges on their reading and writing abilities. This workshop takes an integrated look at two areas of literacy development: word-level reading and spelling. The relationship between language and reading and writing skills will be highlighted. Specific guidelines/suggestions will be offered for assessment, instruction, and remediation.

At the completion of this event, participants will be able to identify target developmental milestones for word-level reading and spelling, develop specific skills for assessing and remediating word-level reading and spelling deficits, discuss the relationship between spelling and reading and explain the research underlying evidence-based practice in this area.
