The AAC Committee promotes current knowledge of AAC trends and evidence-based practices. The Committee provides resources and support for members of NJSHA and consumers.

Strategic Objective

Increase awareness and access to AAC systems, materials, and training across a range of professionals, for varied purposes and in different work and community settings for use with people who have communication challenges and disorders.

Goals

1. Educate paraprofessionals and support staff across settings on AAC communication systems and implementation strategies for increased expression among AAC users.
2.  To increase public awareness of AAC and increase access to no-tech systems posted on the NJSHA website in the community.
3.  To increase awareness of AAC among medical professionals and to increase communication between patients and providers through the development of no-tech communication boards.

VOLUNTEER NOW!

All committees are open to all NJSHA members, with the exception of those stating specific criteria. NJSHA is always looking for committee volunteers to provide of their expertise for as much time you are willing to offer. Your involvement is two-fold, giving back to your organization as well as learning new skills and increasing your knowledge about professional issues. As a member you may volunteer for NJSHA Committees. Your donated time may be as little as one hour per month or as much as you choose.
